THERE’S NO RIGHT WAY TO WRITE – George Ivanoff

George Ivanoff with pen.The last month has flown by so quickly and I’ve come to the end of my blogging stint at the Clubhouse. Many thanks to WestWords for asking me to be a guest blogger. And HUGE thanks to everyone who read my rambling posts!

I want to finish up by saying that there is no right way to write. Writing is such a personal experience, and different people will do it in different ways.

I always plan my stories, while some authors wing it.

I’ll write my first draft as quickly as possible, then re-write after I’ve completed a draft. Other authors will go back and forth, re-writing bits as they go.

I’ll do my notes with pen and paper, write my draft on computer, then print off the draft and do my re-writes on the printout. Some authors do all their planning, writing and re-writing on computer.

I usually write in short bursts, taking regular breaks. Some authors can sit at their desks writing for hours on end.

Some authors always like to write in the same place. I’ve written in cafes, in airports and at the park. I can write anywhere.

Many authors need uninterrupted time with no distractions in order to write. I can write at the drop of a hat with chaos all around. I learned to do this when I was a stay-at-home Dad with young kids.

I like writing in a bunch of different genres, but some authors like to stick with one or two.

It’s a matter of finding what works for you.

So, hop to it! Try things out. Experiment with what, how and where you write. Find what works for you!

But above all else… have FUN with your writing!
